What is Short-Term Disability Insurance?
A type of coverage that replaces a portion of your income if injury or illness prevents you from working for a short period of time. It provides financial security for you and any loved ones who may depend on your ability to earn a paycheck. You may also hear disability insurance referred to as disability income insurance or income protection.
What is Long-Term Disability Insurance?
A type of coverage that replaces a portion of your income if injury or illness prevents you from working for a long period of time, up to Social Security Normal Retirement Age. It provides financial security for you and any loved ones who may depend on your ability to earn a paycheck. You may also hear disability insurance referred to as disability income insurance or income protection.
Plan rules:

Eligibility: Eligible full-time Employees working 20 or more hours per week

Coverage through Mutual of Omaha

Employee must be actively at work on the effective date

Short-Term Disability: Annual enrollment, no health questions every year.

Employees can stop their sick leave at the end of the elimination period or continue until sick leave is exhausted.
Decision must be made at the beginning of leave.

Long-Term Disability: If electing outside of initial enrollment, Evidence of Insurability (EOI) would be required.

Both Short-Term and Long-Term Disability benefits will offset for any outside income (sick leave, worker’s comp, paid
parental leave, retirement benefits, etc.) -
